I Did It!

I look pretty happy there at the finish line, don't I?

I finished in 1 hour, 19 seconds. I ran a 12 minute 3 second/mile pace. I was 310th (out of 557).

Click on the picture below so you can really see where I am....there were a lot of people there!

And there I am a little after the start of the race. Look at me go!

I would just like to say that my husband is the greatest. He supported me (even sending me a text message about halfway through to keep me going!) and has been very nice in making sure I have time to relax and care for my poor, bewildered muscles now that the race is over. I love you, sweetheart!

So I did it. I finished my first public race, and I feel incredibly happy and proud of myself. I had a lot of fun today, and now I'm looking forward to resting for the rest of the weekend. :-)

Wow, I'm Really Out of Good Titles

This is how Lizzie makes me feel when I come home from work:

In other news...... Man, I realize how boring my life is when I try to sit down and write a post. :-)

Let's see. The 5-mile race is on Saturday and I'm feeling about 50% ready.

I had a guy tell me yesterday that I look like Julia Stiles. He isn't the first person to tell me this (I've also been told I look like Leelee Sobieski and Claire Danes) but I just don't see it. Am I missing something?

Ok, there's not much else. I just really wanted to post that comic. Which, by the way, is from a strip called Citizen Dog, just in case you were wondering.

If I Had A Title, I'd Put It Here

I'm going into this post not really knowing what to write about, but thinking that my posting has been few and far between lately. I could just give you an update on my life, but that seems a bit boring and over-done here.

I've been reading a lot of books, but nothing that really stands out (except for a re-reading of Eat, Pray, Love) as review worthy. I've also watched a few movies (the most recent being An Affair to Remember and The Golden Compass - both very good), but I didn't really pay enough attention to the details to write a good review; I just sat back and enjoyed them.

Mostly I've just been trying to focus on all the things going on in my life except work, which I have to say are pretty good. I just wish I had something more interesting to post here. :-)

So, to spice things up, here's a strip from the comic Lio, that was on my iGoogle page today. Enjoy!

Family Ties

Sorry for the lack of posting in the last month; this has been quite a hard year for me already. But hopefully now I will be able to start to move on, and with that comes more posting.

Under terrible circumstances, I was able to get together with some of my family that I haven't seen in many years. It was nice to see everyone again, and I was sad when we all had to leave, because I truly miss hanging out with my cousins and aunts and uncles. I wish we all lived closer to each other.

I've almost decided (I say "almost" because I haven't signed up for it yet) to run a 5-mile race at a local park in a couple of weeks. This will be the first time I've ever raced competitively, but let's be honest, it isn't going to be much of a race. I'm actually just looking forward to being able to say I finished it. I've never run 5 miles in a row, but I have been running 2.5 to 3 every day (admittedly with some walking thrown in there), so I figure I should be able to finish with a somewhat respectable time. Anyway, I usually don't do these things because I'm a wimp and I never have anyone to do them with me, but Keith has promised to be there to support me and watch me cross the finish line, so I think that'll be enough motivation to get me out there. And now that I've told all of you, I'd look pretty silly backing out, so I guess I better just go sign up, huh?

P.S. To my family: Do any of you remember the name of the champagne we were drinking? I'd like to find a bottle.
